Manchester United’s setback against Arsenal has put the Premier League on fire as the defending champions Chelsea have chances of winning their second title in a row. And in Germany Borussia Dortmund has been crowned as the new champion.

Barcelona is stunned by Real Sociedad

Losing at San Sebastian 2-1 against Real Sociedad was definitely something that wasn’t in the plans of the Liga leader Barcelona for round 34, but at least they were favored by Real Madrid’s loss which maintains the eight point difference among them intact.

Barcelona opened the score in the first half through Thiago, but in the second half the home team came from behind with one goal from Ifran, and another one from Pietro through a penalty kick that gave Real Sociedad the victory. This way Barcelona remains with 88 points.

But Barcelona wasn’t the only one that didn’t expect a loss from round 34, as Real Madrid was stunned at home by Zaragoza 2-3. Two goals from Latifa and one from Gabi were sufficient to counter arrest Ramos and Benzema’s goals, and upset Real Madrid that continues in second place with 80 points.

Valencia was also stunned, but on the road against Osasuna by 1-0. Cejudo scored the goal that left Valencia stuck in third place with 63 points.

That loss was of great help for No. 4 Virrareal as they were able to place themselves just three points away from Valencia, thanks to their victory by 2-1 at home against Getafe. Cani and Rossi scored the goals for the Yellow Submarine and Rios for the visitors.

Milan is one goal away from the title

One early goal from Flamini was sufficient for the Serie A leader Milan to defeat Bologna at home on round 35 and keep up with the eight point lead over Inter, when there are just three more games to go. With 77 points that chances of the Rossoneri letting the title escape are almost null.

Despite barely having chances for clinching the title, Inter and Napoli refuse to give up and won their respective games this weekend. The defending champions made it in injury time during their visit to Cesena, thanks to two injury time goals from Pazzini that allowed them to overcome Budan’s goal in the 1-2 victory, and secure the second place with 69 points.

As for Napoli one goal from Hamsik was enough to defeat Genoa at home and reach 68 points, which grant them the third place in the Serie A.

And Lazio was unable to defeat Juventus at home and lost by 1-0 product of late goal from Pepe that gave the visitors the victory. Despite this they continue to hold to the fourth place with 60 points.

Chelsea is back on the fight

The Premier League suffered a big change this past round 35 since Manchester United’s on the road loss to Arsenal opened the title race for Chelsea. One goal from Ramsey was enough for the No. 3 Gunners to defeat the No. 1 Red Devils by 1-0, leaving them stuck in 73 points. As for Arsenal with this victory they reached 67 points.

The defending champions needed a victory to place themselves just three points away from the leaders, and they didn’t disappoint their fans. Totteham was their victim in a game in which Chelsea was down by one since minute 19 when Sandro opened the score. Bu 25 minutes later Lampard got the equalizer and Kalou sealed the victory with one late goal. This way the Blues reach 70 points and revive their chances to repeat the title.

As for Manchester City the goals from De Jong and Zabaleta gave them the victory at home over West Ham by 2-1. Ba scored the discount for the Hammers, but then the Citizens didn’t allow more goals and ended up with a victory that helped them secure the fourth place with 62 points.

Borussia Dortmund is the new champion

32 rounds were sufficient for Borussia Dortmund to crown themselves as the new Bundesliga champions this weekend. With goals from Barrios and Lewandowski they defeated Nurnberg by 2-0 at home and reached 72 points that are worth the title.

This wouldn’t have been possible if No. 2 Bayern Leverkusen had come out victorious from theirs visit to Colonia, but they didn’t and lost the game by 2-0 against Koln. Novakovic scored the two goals that frustrated Leverkusen, as they were left stuck in second place with 64 points.

In other games Bayern Munich resoundingly defeated Schalke by 4-1 at home, and continues in third place but now with 59 points. Muller twice, plus Gomez and Robben made it happen.

And Hannover suffered a setback at home against Monchengladbach due to Reus goal at minute 76, goal that keeps them stuck in 57 point. Despite this loss they are still fourth.
