Pool has always been a popular game since it was developed hundreds of years ago. However its popularity seems to undulate but it has recently enjoyed a resurgence.

Pool is a great sport for young people to play as it develops all sorts of skills which younger people may be lacking.

As fast paced computer games, micro blogging sites and music videos illustrate, for young people today, entertainment is extremely fast paced.

Pool is therefore a fantastic sport to play as it requires skills such as patience, concentration, anticipation and planning ahead – all skills which young people are finding it increasingly difficult to gain.

Pool is a great sport for young teenagers to play because it is social but rarely leads to the rowdy behaviour that more physical sports can cause.

Pool players need to be patient and respectful. Playing pool can be very social and help young people to communicate and relate to each other.

Most pool halls will accept young people who are under eighteen which mean that young people have somewhere to go in the evenings so there is less chance of them resorting to hanging around on street corners to find somewhere to socialise.

Pool is a positive activity that young people can take part in. In pool halls there is very little culture of drinking or drug taking, in fact it’s actively discouraged by many.

In that respect it’s a great idea for young people to get into pool as it will help keep them away from the temptations and pressures that are normally heaped onto teenagers. What’s more they will probably meet some positive role models who can show them the benefits of learning a skill.

Pool can be played by anyone. Although some may have a natural propensity towards the sport, most people can become fairly skilled if they practise hard. This means that anyone can play and achieve, whether they are tall, short, thin or fat.

The inclusive nature of the sport can help players to gain confidence among their peers.

Personalised pool cues are very popular and can really give young people a sense of pride and individuality.

Most custom pool cues are made of wood and carbon fibre, come in a variety of colours and finishes and can be adorned with etching, photographs or even beads or gold leaf.

So if you are looking for a game that will help your teen gain friends, skill and confidence then look no further than pool.
