I'm quite certain that you've heard a story about someone who has had their wisdom teeth removed or maybe it's your own. In either case you know the pain involved with having these molars removed as well as how inconvenient this oral surgery can be. Despite what you've heard or know yourself, many folks don't really have any problems with their wisdom teeth at all. There may be no pain, or discomfort. If this is the case, should tooth extraction still be considered?
I think it is a better idea to make plans or have a discussion with your dentist about the removal of your wisdom teeth before you begin to have pain and swelling. When you notice these symptoms it may mean your wisdom teeth are impacted. Impaction of the third molars means there isn't enough room in the gums for them. These teeth might not ever come out at all or may only come out partially.
There may be no choice for Dentists but to remove wisdom teeth when they've become impacted because of bacteria build up and infection. This can then lead to cyst formation, gum and bone damage. The process of extraction gets more difficult as more of these problems exist or worsen which is the reason why some dentists recommend early extraction.
It makes so much more sense to take care of problems before they get out of control making it understandable that some dentists recommend the early removal of wisdom teeth. Removing the wisdom teeth before problems occur will accommodate the healing process. The best authority to seek advice on the desirability and practicality of extraction is a reputable oral health practitioner.
There are other difficulties that can occur in the dental process. Tooth misalignment can complicate a patient's case and there's also a chance that a tooth can have roots that are fused or that are irregularly shaped and positioned. A dentist may have to gradually extract a tooth that's coming in below the jawbone by making a flap and then removing a part of the bone.
If it's necessary to have your wisdom teeth removed you needn't become severely anxious due to all the possible scenarios. Lots of people have conditions that aren't complicated at all and having their wisdom teeth removed won't take a lot of time or effort. When conditions are normal, the teeth may be removed by the dentist with local anesthesia. Patients with an unreasonable fear of dental procedures may want to ask for sedatives. Their dentist would have to decide if this would be a good idea for them.
You need to realize that your progress and how quickly you heal may not be the same for you as your friends or family members. Speaking generally however, the healing will be faster and pain lessened by the simplicity of the extraction process. You'll be prescribed pain medication for your wisdom teeth or if you have dry socket and your physical activities may have to be restricted for a while.
The removal of your wisdom teeth is not entirely pleasant. Please be aware that the removal of your molars will have less complications by the speed of your action. Have a discussion with your dentist well before you experience any kind of discomfort if removing your wisdom teeth is what's the best option for you.
