The mezzanine rack system is another good method that makes use of all warehouse space. This is, typically, a structure between the main floors to keep products. Less expensive than other systems, they may be taken apart and relocated to other locations.
Mezzanine storage systems are desirable where there are not large amounts of products. In larger scale operations, this might not be ideal. But the cost is less than other systems.
Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems are a fairly new. They are complex systems that use computers to store materials by location. Space is increased because there are no height limits.
The ASRS system is extremely adaptive and can be utilized to store both big and small items. There are savings because these systems are mechanical and require less labor. In spite of less labor requirements these systems are more costly to set up than mezzanine systems and the pallet systems. Also there are imposing maintenance expenses with the ASRS systems.
Labor and product damages are expensive to a warehouse operation. There are lots of great low cost storage systems that are achievable and can be custom-made to fit your needs.
