Some parents are really after convenience. They get out of the house, put the baby in the car seat, secure the harness and drove off to the mall or the grocery store. There are parents who would prefer to pick up the car seat, put it in a stroller frame or a travel system and do their grocery shopping. They do not want to bother with the attaching and detaching harnesses. Perhaps, you are one of them. If that’s the case, do you know what to buy – a stroller frame or a travel system?
Both options offer parents a way to use an infant car seat to carry their children outside of the car. One can choose between these stroller systems. Each system offers its own set of benefits and drawbacks. So, it is important that you consider each of these things before you make your purchase.
Should You Get a Travel System?
Travel systems are available in a wide array of designs, styles and prices. It is considerably easy to find something that will suit you. Usually, this is sold together with an infant car seat, so you know that the car seat will fit into the travel system well.
A travel system is usually packed with a lot of features including storage space and cup holders. These things also offer a lot of convenience features like one-hand folding system, reclining seats and front trays. A travel system can carry a child about 40 lbs, but there are products from some manufacturers that can carry more weight.
The drawback to using this product is that it can be a bit heavy. This can be a huge inconvenience especially for parents who live in the city especially those who live in apartments or who take public transportation. These things can be a bit larger than usual as well.
They can be a bit difficult to store even when folded because they really are larger than your typical baby stroller. This means you really need to make sure that your trunk is large enough for it before you buy one. It can also be a bit difficult to maneuver it because of its size. The extra features also contribute largely to its weight and size.
Not surprisingly, there are many parents who eventually end up regretting buying this. They often end up wishing they bought a regular stroller instead.
Should You Get a Stroller Frame Then?
A stroller frame is exactly what the name suggests, a frame. This can support an infant car seat. It is lighter and smaller than your regular strollers or travel systems. Since these products are not burden with padding and seating, they are considerably lighter and easier to carry than regular baby strollers. It is also considerably easier to steer and maneuver this thing. On the other hand, the usefulness of this product is limited. Once your baby outgrows his or her car seat, you will not have any use for this product unless of course, you keep it for your next child.
Stroller frames are cheaper than travel systems or baby strollers. If you do not own a car seat, you can purchase one along with your car seat. Some manufacturers sell both in one package. There are companies that sell the frame alone without the car seat. You can check out various websites and see what will work best for you and your budget.
