This system of contractor management put lights on the necessity regarding management of safety along with health of the contractors working at company workplaces. The actual purpose of the process is to ensure a methodical approach to the management of contractors so that they are least subjected to risks regarding health and safety for contractors, staff and the public. A contractor is an organization or person engaged to carry out the work. Contract occurs in any engagement which includes trade or profession. Contract supervisor is the person appointed to supervise the whole procedure.
There is an increase in risk if the control over outsourcing work is lost. Keeping a direct control provides Owner complete control on the production and services including consistency and quality. The vice effect of outsourcing is the reduction in the quantity of control considering these aspects. The problem is that even when contracts are set in place, the Owner cannot be affirmed that the requirements are met. Companies combat hard to keep the standard of their contractor management processes since there is a continuous outsourcing of production. Necessities and regulations suggested from certain reliable standard bodies including governing bodies keep changing constantly.
Companies should have a full view over the efficiency of work their selected contractors and continuous assessment which often proves to be difficult. Currently many tools are available in the market place which allows a provision for more view regarding the quality of performance by the contractor. Systems have emerged recently which can meet to the necessity of firm outsourcing large amounts of labors. For instance, many large industries have integrated a management software solution to their control system for accessing. This is an apt solution which provides direct visibility to the contractor within the company. There should be a proper criterion regarding evaluation and a proper management process for managing the contractors.
The contract supervisor should have a minimum awareness of health and safety in regard of the work being performed and should be provided with proper training for this procedure. He should keep a check on whether the specified risk control measures are implemented to maintain safety. It's his function to maintain and monitor the communication channel. The contractors are responsible for keeping the labors and themselves out of risk. They should work according to the procedures. The noble process implemented for almost every contract based firm includes the procedure of registering, induction, onsite management, inspection, various approaches for managing hazards contractor monitoring and continuous record maintenance.
