If you're taking your trade show booth to an event, you will want to make sure that each and every visitor feels welcome. How can you provide individual attention to your most important customers yet not alienate brand new ones? Taking special care to make each customer feel significant is a great way to improve relationships with old customers and create fresh, lasting relationships with new ones.
Greet Each Visitor To Your Trade Show Booth
It's likely that you'll have many visitors to your trade show display. Although not all of them will become your customers, they each have the potential to do so. Instead of sizing up the attendee with just a glance, talk to each person who comes into your trade show booth. Taking just a few moments to chat with your visitors about their businesses and what they're looking for will give you the opportunity to uncover if they might possibly become long-term customers. If you determine early in the conversation that the visitor is unlikely to use your products or services, excuse yourself professionally. You want to leave them with a good impression because you never know if they're planning a move to a new company or if their business will change focus and suddenly require your services.
Create Private Areas Using Banner Stands So Your Clients Can Avoid Their Competition
If your customers are visiting your trade show booth, chances are their competitors are too. Take care to know which companies compete for business in the common industries that your company services. If it's possible, consider creating a special, semi-private area where you can talk to clients. Many businesses don't want to run across their competition and they especially won't want to see their vendor talking to the competition. If you're short on space, you can use something as simple as banner stands to create out-of-the-way areas. The banner stands can be arranged to create a screened off area that's perfect for discussing confidential business matters. If you're having a difficult time picturing this set-up, practice arranging your trade show display and banner stands in your office beforehand to get the configuration right.
Give Gifts Privately
It's natural to want to give gifts or small tokens of appreciation to special clients who visit your trade show booth. Giving gifts can make customers feel valued, but can leave other clients feeling alienated. Instead, consider giving special gifts in private. You can use the hidden areas created by banner stands or choose to give the gift before or after the show. For especially important clients, consider taking them out to dinner afterwards to get to know them better and give them their present.
Making customers feel valued is an excellent way to increase business and build relationships with the clients you already work with. Whether you're greeting a potentially new customer or one you've worked with for years, take the time to make them feel special.
