Isn't it funny how blackheads are? You know you hate them but don't you just love popping them out? There's really something about the joy of squeezing a blackhead out and seeing it pop out of your skin. It's a love-hate relationship-something which you know you're better off without. So how do you get rid of blackheads?

To squeeze or not to squeeze-that is the question. Squeezing a blackhead, if done carelessly, can lead to infection and you might end up aggravating the condition. But not squeezing a blackhead and just leaving it out in plain sight is just annoying. So here's what you can do, follow a blackhead removing regimen that will not only get rid of blackheads but will also minimize the risk of infection.

First, clean up your hands. Your hands are among the dirtiest parts of your body. So if you want to squeeze out those blackheads, wash your hands and keep the squeaky clean.

Pour hot water into a basin and hold your face over the steam, then place a towel over your head to stop the steam from escaping. Remember not to hold your face too close to the hot water or you might end up scalding your skin. The hot steam will open up your pores, making it easier for the blackheads to be squeezed out. Do this for about ten minutes.

When your pores have opened up, squeeze the blackheads out gently. Some people recommend using your hand so that you can control the pressure applied. You can also use a blackhead remover; this is a stainless steel stick with a circular pad on the end. If you're going to use a blackhead remover, make sure to sterilize it first. A gentle pressure would be enough to extract the blackheads since you're pores have already opened up. If you can't extract a blackhead, don't force it out. It's probably not yet ready to come out and you'll only end up irritating your skin.

Apply an anti-bacterial solution after. This will lessen the risk of your pores getting infected.

Squeezing it out is one way to get rid of blackheads but if you want a more permanent solution, you might want to modify your overall skin routine. Cleanse with a gel based cleanser twice a day. Tone and moisturize your skin. Find products which suit your skin type. And be healthy-drink more water, eat more vegetables and fruits, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep.
