Most smokers who have been smoking cigarettes for a long period of time would like to stop smoking but still continue to smoke cigarettes year in and year out and hope that one day they will wake up and just not feel like smoking or that a cure will come along and make giving up cigarettes a quick and painless task.
This of course is not going to happen any time soon and with each cigarette you smoke you move one step closer to one of the smoking related disease such as cancer, heart disease or pulmonary disease to name just a few.
The health risks although by themselves should be reason enough to stop any smoker from smoking are not always enough. Smokers know the risks of smoking and believe they will stop smoking before they do permanent damage which is often not the case so here are some additional reasons to motivate you to give up smoking.
Smoking is an expensive habit and will cost you thousands each year and a fortune over a life time. Once you stop smoking you will be surprised at the extra money you have each year and can buy those little luxuries you haven't been able to afford or even put towards a vacation abroad at the end of the year.
The smell of smoke is unattractive to any non smokers and a smoker has the permanent smell of smoke on there clothes and hair, bad breath and stained fingers and teeth. The smell of smoke also pollutes a smoker's house, car and lingers on all their other items.
Smoking is no longer sociable and an inconvenience not only for non smokers but also to smokers. Today it is a case of smoke outside or don't smoke at all.
There are of course many other reasons to stop smoking but if you are ready to stop smoking then you will first need to explore your options and decided on a quit smoking method that you feel comfortable with.
Many smokers will turn to nicotine replacement therapy as the first choice when giving up smoking and include the nicotine patch, the nicotine gum, the nicotine inhaler or nicotine spray. Other will choose acupuncture, aromatherapy or hypnosis while others will just stop cold turkey.
Finally giving up smoking will probably be one of the most difficult things you do, although some smokers find it easy. If you don't succeed on your first try then try a different method or the same method again but keep trying.
