In my last article I explained the need to research your article content to ensure you are delivering quality, accurate information to keep your viewers interest. In this article I will explain the use of keyword research before writing your article.
Keyword research is a very important aspect of your article writing. Everything you do with your online business is done for a reason and article marketing is no exception.
Writing articles and submitting them to article directories is done to target readers in your niche, get them to read your article and then hold their interest so they will click through the link in your author bio to your website.
To do this, the correct use of keyword research is critical!
I have tried many different keyword research tools over the years. Below are just some of them
• Google keyword tool
• Traffic Travis
• Keyword Discovery
• Rapid Keyword, but my absolute favorite is
• Market Samurai
My preference for Market Samurai is based on the fact that I really believe it is a complete tool. Nothing else I have tried has offered the complete range of tools and customizable reports the way Market Samurai does;
• Keyword Research
• Rank Tracking Of Your Sites
• Check SEO Competition For Your Keywords
• Find Domains Containing Your New Keywords
• Find Affiliate Products To Promote Matching Your Keywords
• Find Content for your Site or Blog Matching Your Keywords
• Publish That Content To Your Site Or Blog
I would recommend that when you start researching article marketing keywords that you start with the basics. Decide the topic you want to write about. For this example I will look for "cheese making Australia" because that is what my blog is about. So I start my keyword research and create a new project called "cheese making Australia" I pick which country I want the information to come from and click "Generate Keywords". I few seconds later I have a list of 70 keywords.
The next step is to check the competition for each of the keywords. Remember we are trying to rank highly in the search engines so we want to target the keywords with less competition.
Straight away we can see that "cheese making classes" is highly competitive but "cheese making course" or "cheese making courses" is not.
We can now take this information and use it when writing our article to get higher search engine rankings easier because we don't have as much competition. After all if your site is about "Cheese Making in Australia" a few articles where you talk about the benefits of attending a class on cheese making with a link to the business conducting the class to earn commission and a reciprocal link back to your site and then a link to your site in your Author bio will create enormous interest and generate loads of traffic to your site.
Spending a few minutes doing keyword research before writing your article will provide you with a well written, targeted article that can achieve high search engine ranking. If you are going to spend 15 minutes writing your article I very strongly recommend you spend another 5 minutes (that really is all it takes with the right tool) to do your keyword research.
Market Samurai is just one of a number of available product that provides all the tools required to enable you to pick a topic and a set of keywords for your article with the least amount of competition so you an achieve the best results for your effort.
