The most desired protein shake available is a protein shake based on whey. It is made by putting milk through extra extraction processes to increase the whey.
This type of protein shake is easily digestible and absorbable. It is therefore a common protein shake in the health and fitness community.
The protein demanded by your body to build and sustain muscle tissue whilst you are working out is known as BCAA. So by drinking a protein shake that contains BCAA you are aiding your muscles to recover at a much faster rate and also indirectly helping the weight loss process.
Another benefit of whey protein is that it supports a healthy immune system as it encourages the production of glutathione - an amino acid that has antioxidant properties that support your immune system.
Another popular protein shake includes casein. A typical casein protein shake is more highly concentrated than whey. It is a protein that can stop your muscles from degenerating through big workouts as it contains glutamine, an amino acid that can also increase your immune system.
If you want to take a casein protein shake, you should take it before you go to sleep. As your body essentially spends a third of the day fasting as you sleep, casein based protein shakes continue to nurse your muscles.
A whey protein shake on the other hand is best taken straight after a gym session because it’s a great muscle food for after a work out and averts any catabolic effects.
I recommend you to have a combination of both whey and casein-based protein shakes.
In order to create proper muscle, it’s important to choose a whey supplement that has a high level of protein.
One of my personal favorite whey protein shakes is BSN true-mass. It tastes good, is easily soluble and has approximately 40gm of protein per serving, which is rather high. Boditronics profusion reloaded is one more protein shake that’s quite high on my list. It’s a shake with a similarly high level of protein as the BSN protein shake. Its benefit is that it has a lower calorie level than the BSN protein shake, so if you are aiming to lose weight it may be the better option for you. I also think the flavor of it is good.
My favorite casein protein shake is from Reflex Nutrition. It tastes good and does the job well.
