Comparing health drinks with alkaline properties vs. energy drinks, sports drinks, and vitamin waters is kind of like comparing the benefits of fruits and vegetables over the benefits of candy bars. The differences seem obvious. Genuinely beneficial alkaline health drinks are carefully processed so that the whole food ingredients are kept whole with active plant enzymes and natural antioxidants. These allow the body to absorb valuable nutrients crucial for electrolyte replacement and energy.
The best alkaline health drinks involve genuine whole foods as ingredients. These ingredients are enormously different from all the multicolored dyes, "natural flavors", isolated vitamins and damaging sweeteners found in many of the artificially enhanced vitamin waters, energy drinks, and sports drinks being sold today.
Health drinks that are formulated with natural, whole food ingredients are excellent for pH balance whereas most sports drinks, vitamin waters and energy drinks are acid forming and contribute to an alkaline/acid imbalance in the body. Of course, the herbal, alkaline ingredients in these health drinks may not sound as advanced as something like sucralose (a sweetener in vitamin waters, sports drinks, and energy drinks made by means of a process of chlorination), but they are much more favorable for the body.
While alkaline health drinks are not as popular as energy drinks, vitamin waters and sports drinks, there are natural health drinks processed with water, genuine fruit extracts and alkaline based herbal ingredients that typical consumers do not recognize. Researching beyond the nutrition fact labels, we uncover the fact that these natural plant ingredients contain vital nutrients found in whole foods, including live enzymes and powerful antioxidants. When manufactured carefully at lower temperatures, live enzymes in whole foods make it easier for nutrients to be absorbed by the cells of the body. Additionally, the natural, alkaline properties of the food grade herbs provide a healthy pH balance to counteract all those acid-forming foods and drinks that most people ingest every day.
Ingredients in sports drinks, vitamin waters and energy drinks usually include things like water, natural flavors, sucralose, isolated B vitamins and other man-made artificial nutrients. So, along with the dead, demineralized water, they include a chlorine processed sweetener, nameless natural flavors and artificially created vitamins that the body does not recognize as real nutrients from whole foods. They lack any authentic fruits, like peaches, lemons or raspberries. Even if there are any real whole foods in the ingredients, typically high temperatures used in processing are likely to destroy any live enzymes. Without those vital plant enzymes the body cannot easily use the available nutrients. So, very few of the isolated vitamins in "enhanced" vitamin waters, sports drinks, and energy drinks are in fact usable by the body for energy.
In this high speed world, most people want to get in, get out and get a boost. In reality, people may be doing more harm than good. Once the marketing gimmicks are revealed, it is easy to quickly learn why naturally alkaline health drinks are better for people than all those neon colored vitamin waters, dangerous energy drinks and artificially enhanced sports drinks.
