In my previous article I talked about all the hype and BS about cookie cutter websites, monthly membership sites and "loopholes" in Google, Twitter and Facebook. I explained that I believe that if you are serious about making a long term sustainable income from your internet business that I would show you how I do it, and it won't cost you a cent!
Information Marketing
Information Marketing is a very broad definition of a lot of different aspects of your internet business. Information Marketing includes
• - Articles
• - Blogs
• - Article and Blog Commenting
• - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and MySpace
• - Give away reports, ebooks, audios and videos
• - Viral ebooks and reports
and of course email follow ups and broadcasts
I believe that one of the biggest mistakes people make when they first decide that they want an Internet Business is not thinking through and understanding the multitude of different business models that there are on the internet. You could set up your business to be;
• - Affiliate marketing with no web site i.e. ClickBank
• - Affiliate marketing with your own web site i.e. ClickBank
• - Affiliate marketing for physical products like Amazon
• - Monetised Blog
• - Make and market your own products
• and many more variations. Each variation has its own method of marketing that works best. The absolute one thing that every business model has in common is that to be successful you have to;
• - A, drive traffic and
• - B, convert traffic to sales
Mastering Information Marketing will help you to be successful at both driving traffic and then converting that traffic into sales which is what puts the dollars into your bank account each month.
So the big question then becomes exactly what is information marketing and if it is so important to the success of my business, how do I master it?
I then say "I'm so glad you asked. Please take a seat and we'll discuss it"
I define information marketing using the following short story anecdote.
Every single person on this planet who goes to the internet and types words into a search engine is looking for one thing and one thing only - INFORMATION! Obviously no one can provide information and answers to every question that has been asked on the internet. Of course not, but what we can do is research a particular issue or interest (normally when you are just starting out this will be something you have an interest in so you have some level of knowledge about your subject), find solutions to the needs of the people who are searching for your particular area of interest and then find a way to get that information to the people who are searching for it.
The second part of the puzzle is to find a way to monetise your answer and then exchange your answer for the money of the person who is looking for that information.
I realise that this may sound a bit cold, a bit mercenary but at the end of the day if you want to make money on the internet you have to exchange goods for money. Your whole focus has to be "how can I make this information valuable enough that someone will pay for it". Once you get used to and understand this philosophy you have jumped your first hurdle to making money on the internet and achieving that lifestyle you have been dreaming off for so long.
