In the study" Therapeutic Advances in Psycho pharmacology", conducted by Mark Moss and Lorraine Oliver who work at the Brain, Performance and Nutrition Research Centre at Northumbria University, UK, they described the experiment they designed to investigate the pharmacology of one of rosemary’s main chemical components, 1,8-cineole (1,3,3-trimethyl-2-oxabicyclo[2,2,2]octane). They tested cognitive performance and mood in their human subjects who were exposed to varying levels of the rosemary aroma. Their findings show that1,8-cineole concentration in the blood is related to a person’s cognitive performance. Higher levels of concentrations result to improved performance.
The rosemary oil is only one of the many pure essential oils that affect the physical and emotional states of a person. This is why 100% pure essential oil is the key factor that makes aromatherapy beneficial and therapeutic. Aside from rosemary oil, there are other essential oils from herbs and flowers; and each one has its own qualities, aromas and benefits.
