Passed along over the generations, Dadima's treatments use the healing and remedial properties of natural products to rejuvenate and beautify the look and feel of an Asian bride.

All of these treatments are easy to prepare and can be made with ingredients, which should be readily available in your kitchen. Read on for a delightful range of treatments that will give you the radiance you desire for your big day!

FACIALS & SKIN CARE

EXFOLIATING SCRUB

An effective exfoliating scrub - take one dry roti (chapatt)i, crumble it, stir in two tablespoons of cold yoghurt, add one teaspoon of sugar and apply to the face in circular motions. Leave it on for five minutes and wash off with cold water to feel fresh and exfoliate.

NATURAL TONER

The juice of an orange when massaged into the face acts as an excellent toner, removing excess dirt and grease and provides a natural source of vitamin C directly to your skin.

In a blender, blend one peeled kiwi and one and a half teaspoons of lime juice. Add an equal amount of water and blend until smooth. Use a cotton ball to apply to face for natural toning.

BLEACHING FACIAL

A home made natural bleach to fade out those sun tans. Make a paste of fresh spinach leaves in a blender and add a few drops of lemon juice. Apply evenly to the Asian bride's face. Leave on for 10 minutes and wash off with cold water. This serves as a natural cleanser too.

MOISTURISING FACE PACK FOR DRY SKIN

Mix together half a cup of natural yogurt, one tablespoon of honey, and quarter of a mashed ripe banana. Apply this pack on your face and neck and leave for ten minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

BLEMISH FREE FACE MASK

For a blemish free complexion mix three dessert spoons of yoghurt with one tablespoon of gram (channa) flour and one teaspoon of haldi (turmeric) to make a smooth and fairly thick paste. Add a few drops off water if necessary. Apply evenly to the face leave on for ten minutes. Wash off thoroughly with cold water.

SENSITIVE SKIN SOOTHER

Saturate a cloth or hanky in warm (not hot) chamomile tea. Press cloth over your face, flooding skin with liquid; hold against skin for five seconds. Rinse the cloth, restaurant and repeat this process two more times. Finish by gently patting face with a clean, dry towel.

HAIR CARE TREATMENTS

DANDRUFF TREATMENT

Pour malt vinegar over your hair and massage it well into your scalp. Leave it in for up to 20 minutes and then rinse thoroughly and wash your hair with a very mild shampoo. Repeat this process every other day, until the dandruff disappears.

NOURISHING TREATMENT FOR DRY HAIR

Mix one tablespoon of honey in half a cup of cold full cream milk. Massage this mixture on the scalp and leave it in for fifteen minutes. Wash out with a mild shampoo and tepid water.

RADIANT HAIR MASK

Mix two tablespoons honey with three tablespoons of olive oil. Apply thoroughly to the hair, massaging through from the root to the ends of the hair. Cover your hair with cling film or a shower cap. After fifteen minutes shampoo and rinse well.

GORGEOUS HAIR MASK

Grind five tablespoons (less if your hair is short) of fenugreek (methi) seeds soaked in water overnight into a paste. Massage this paste into your scalp and hair and leave it for twenty minutes. Wash it off with a mild shampoo.

DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT

Soak half a cup of rose petals in hot water for fifteen minutes. Take half a mashed banana (whole if you have long tresses), one tablespoon of honey, and a tablespoon of olive oil. Blend all the the ingredients in a blender. Massage well into your hair and scalp, and leave the treatment on for about half an hour. If you can wrap a warm towel around your head the treatment will have a better effect. Wash off the conditioner thoroughly with a mild shampoo.

SHINING HAIR RINSE

To add sheen to your hair, mix the juice of one fresh Orange, Water, 1 tablespoon Honey and 5 drops of Sandalwood Oil.Use as an after-shampoo rinse for fabulous and perfumed hair!

EYE CARE TREATMENTS

COMBATING EYE PUFFINESS & SHADOWS

Close your eyes and cover your eyelids with slices of raw potato or cucumber for twenty minutes. Wash your with warm water and apply a suitable under eye cream.

Grate a cucumber, squeeze out the juice into a glass and refrigerate. Make a mixture of lemon juice, lanolin cream and cucumber juice and apply around the under eye area. Wash off after fifteen minutes and apply a gentle under eye cream.

Grated potatoes can lighten under eye circles. Potatoes contain an enzyme called catecholase, which is used in cosmetics as a skin lightener.Run one potato through your food processor and stuff the raw mash into a piece of cheesecloth. Apply to the area directly beneath your eye — don't let the potato juice come in contact with the eye itself and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Wipe away the starchy residue

NAIL CARE TREATMENTS

NAIL WHITENING TREATMENTS

Soak your nails in water with lemon juice or lemon slices. The lemon acts as an astringent and will strip away stains. Once your hands are dry, you'll only need to put on a couple of coats of a clear topcoat.

Similarly, rubbing whitening toothpaste over your nails, will remove any yellowish hues.

LIP CARE TREATMENTS

FOR LUSCIOUS LIPS

Soak a black tea bag with warm water. Press over clean lips for five minutes. Repeat as many times as desired. Black tea is high in tannin which retains moisture and keeps lips smooth and taut.

You can mix one tablespoon of cranberry sauce juice with two tablespoons of Vaseline to create a delicious home made lip balm.

For soft and rosy lips massage your lips with juice from coriander leaves (dhania bhaji).
