The mining process for kaolin is energy-intensive and results in the destruction of natural habitats and the release of greenhouse gases. In addition, the transportation of the raw materials to the manufacturing facilities also contributes to carbon emissions.
Once the raw materials have been mined and transported, they must then be processed and fired at high temperatures in order to create the final product. This process also requires large amounts of energy, further contributing to the carbon footprint.
