Many people have often wondered how hypnotherapy can help them with their problems in life, yet many remain unaware of just what it is.

Hypnosis literally means "sleep of the nervous system," and when this is achieved, the therapist can directly access a person's subconscious mind and address the problems from a much deeper level, which allows the rational, conscious mind to be bypassed, along with its resistance to change.

Selecting a London hypnotherapist is the subject of another article, however it goes without saying, the experienced professional you choose should be certified in Hypnotherapy and experienced in dealing with the type of problem you wish to overcome.

Let's look at the 4 main types of problems:

Thoughts and ideas

Fears and phobias

Feelings

Habits

Thoughts and ideas

Problems associated with thoughts and ideas include: obsessive compulsive behaviour, low self-esteem, low confidence, insomnia and worrying. Hypnosis can help to redirect these recurring thoughts into something more positive with great success. Just like a computer, your subconscious mind runs a program and the therapist's job is to remove the bugs. One of the most effective ways to do this is by exploring the client’s current purpose in life and then re-evaluate their direction and goals.

Fears and phobias.

Fear of flying, fear of public speaking, fear of the opposite sex, agoraphobia, arachnophobia and other fears can all be effectively treated under hypnosis. The key to overcoming any fear is relaxation and hypnotherapy teaches the patient effective relaxation. Effective treatment for fears and phobias include the development of coping strategies and the use positive visualisations.

Feelings

Anxiety, stress, guilt, jealousy and other unwanted feelings that hamper relationships can be replaced by positive and more helpful ones. These are simply emotional reactions and once again hypnosis will induce relaxation and allow the client to replace the unwanted feelings. Another powerful technique is to foster and promote a greater degree of assertiveness with the client, so they feel more responsible for their choices, rather than victimised by them.

Habits

Any habit ranging from smoking to nail biting can be effectively removed under hypnosis. If you want to stop/quit smoking or stop over eating, a hypnotherapist can help you to replace the old habit with a new, more positive one. The key to changing any habit permanently is to overcome any objections up front and to deal directly with the unconscious aspect of the habit.

As you can see, a London Hypnotherapist can assist you in overcoming a large range of problems. Like anything, acceptance that the problem exists is the first step. Next comes the positive decision to remove the unwanted problem from your life and the final step is to find a certified Hypnotherapist to assist you in making a permanent change. There are many certified hypnotherapists out there with the experience and expertise to help ensure a clients current problems become a thing of the past.
