Massages are desired for many reasons like sore muscles or a strain of some kind, but many of us utilize massages for the sole purpose of pure relaxation from stress to re-energize ourselves. It was discovered a very long time ago that using certain types of massage oils brought out the absolute best in a massage more ways than one. Of course we know already that massage oils help to glide the hands and fingers much easier for a better feeling massage. There is an underlying factor of good massage oil that will contribute to giving a deeper inner massage. This is especially true with aromatherapy massage oils. The good feel of the massage and oil its self is heightened by proven therapeutic smells, then in return giving the best possible massage inside our bodies and out.
If you have ever wondered what good massage oil is made out of? The very first step is good carrier oil. Carrier liquids are oils to dilute the concentrated essential oils of the completed massage oil to be used. Almost always it is a type of vegetable oil or sweet almond oil to be used for the carrier oil. These are important for several reasons. One is that the concentrated liquid may be irritating to the skin when used directly, so the carrier base is to protect. The second reason for the carrier liquid is to slow down the concentrated oil's evaporation process during the massage. The third reason is for the massage oil to be at the right consistency for the best skin absorption which in return gives the best results in the deep kneading massage process. Massage oil with out a good carrier will break down too soon during the massage process, leaving you unsatisfied with the massage its self.
A good over the counter massage oil can vary in cost, but just as good of massage oil can be created at home for a more cost efficient product. As mentioned earlier, good effective massage oil is made of good carrier oil, but the chosen essential oils are up to the individual. Essential oils are the pure "essence" of natural plants and flowers. They are good for overall psychological and physical well-being, unlike chemical perfume oils. Well made massage oil is made of ounce carrier oil blended with up to 20 drops of what ever chosen essential oil or oils desired. Less than 20 drops of essential is fine, but no more than 20 drops to each ounce of carrier oil so not to cause any type of skin irritations.
