Blackheads and zits are not the same. Similar, but not the same. But just like zits, you can't help but squeeze them. Both are made from sebum, the oil that causes the spots. So blackheads are a build up of this type of oil in the skin pores. Blackheads are different in appearance because of the reaction of the sebum when it is exposed to air.

Change Pillowcase

Change your pillowcase as often as possible. The oil produced by your hair follicles can accumulate on the pillowcase and then get to your face skin, which can cause blackheads and acnes. No wonder, that your evening skincare doesn’t help to reduce blackheads.

Use Different Towels

Use a clean towel after washing your face. Every woman should use three different towels: the first one for the body, the second one for the intimate hygiene and the third towel for the face.

There are many over-the-counter treatments for acne and blackheads. These may be good for dealing with blackheads when you get them, but they don't always prevent new ones from forming. Some over-the-counter treatments are harsh on the skin and cause more irritation and can make the problem worse. If you use over the counter remedies, look for one that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicyclic acid.

Clay masks, which can also help prevent blackheads in those with oily skin, is a blackhead home remedy that some people have had success with. Avoid masks that contain peppermint or other mint because those can be irritating to the skin.

Make a homemade blackhead body scrub. All you need is baking soda, dead sea salt, and water. Take 1 teaspoon of dead sea salt, which is renowned for its healing powers, and mix it with 4 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of water. In order for this to work, you are going to need a back brush to scrub your back with the paste.

Mild cases can be treated by using over the counter medicines such as cleansers, moisturizers, creams and ointments.

In case of severity medications are followed according to the physician’s check ups and recommendations.

Do not use adhesive removal facial strips , because they can irritate the skin and cause more harm than good, even ripping the outer layer of skin without replenishing it with any blackhead fighting ingredients.

Exfoliate often using a product that contains beta hydroxy acids or alpha hydroxy acids, which can penetrate the skin and clear pores thoroughly. If you have oily skin, use a face mask at least once weekly to help you absorb excess oil.

Review your medicine cabinet. Certain medications, such as birth control pills, can actually cause skin breakouts. To get rid of blackheads, discuss with your doctor about changing brands or chemical composition.

One effective method regarding the removal of blackheads has to do with a hot washcloth. If you use a gentle facial scrub followed by the application of a hot moist washcloth for a ten minute period, this can really help immensely. This should shoo away some of these embedded blackheads and not damage your delicate skin. Some people prefer to use a professional blackhead remover. If you have access to the Internet, it will be very easy to find one of these devices. Just remember to use it gently.

Do a clay mask once a week - This is only for those of you with oily or combination skin. Dry skin, obviously, needs all the oil it can get. Blackheads are partially caused by excess oil on your face, so if you have greasy skin, a good quality clay mask will help sop up some of the grease and keep your pores clearer. Using it once a week is enough - you don’t want to over-dry your skin, because this could lead to even more problems!
