Have you ever heard the saying, such and such made my day? Well, that is what you will hear when you choose promotional mugs as your give-away of choice. You will hear this because customers like to start their day off with a good cup or mug of coffee. If you have given them a promotional mug that feels right to them, they will be saying that your promotional mug makes their day every morning.
You have to be careful when buying promotional mugs, though, because it seems like most people have a favorite mug or cup in which they like to sip the first hot coffee of their day. Don’t let this human idiosyncrasy keep you from using promotional mugs though. With a little bit of thought and planning, you can give customers a choice of mugs thus letting them pick a promotional mug they know they will use.
In order to do this, you need to have a budget that is appropriate enough to let you buy 2-4 different kinds of promotional mugs. When you are considering whether or not your budget is adequate, do not let yourself think about buying lower quality promotional mugs to be able to buy several styles.
Humans are complicated. They want promotional mugs that feel right too them when they drink their coffee but they also want the promotional mug to be of a high enough quality that the handle won’t fall off of it while they are drinking their hot coffee and they do not want it to crack when they put it in the dishwasher. It kind of seems like they may want it all but this is not necessarily the case.
Most customers know that a business owner can not afford to purchase high-end promotional mugs to give away to every customer who walks through the door. They expect they will receive a mid-range promotional mug that will be of an average quality. The risk of buying low quality is that people equate the quality of their promotional items with the company’s commitment to quality in general. You do not want a low quality promotional mug to say to customers that quality is not of value to you.
Now that you know you can buy several types of mugs of average quality, it is time to think about how to decide what styles of promotional mugs to buy. There are a couple of variables to consider including: size, shape and weight.
You will have a several sizes of mugs to choose from, large, medium and small. You probably want to purchase some of each of these sizes as people like to drink their coffee from a particular size of mug. If they are allowed to select the mug that is the right size for them, you will have some happy customers.
The next variable to consider is the shape of the promotional mugs. As you know mugs come in shapes with straight sides, tapered sides and with rounded shapes. Again, you might go ahead and order some of each to go with the various sizes. When customers get to choose not only the size of their promotional mug but also the shape, you have doubled their satisfaction with you and your business.
The final variable to consider is weight. To have a promotional mug feel right in your hand, it has to also be not too heavy or too light. When customers have been given all of these choices, you have made friends forever.
