Acne could be viewed as an infection of the skin's pores. The dead skin cells become mixed with the body's bacteria and oil, clogging the pore until a pimple forms. As you try to squeeze the pimple or pick at it, this can cause the puss to actually go deeper into the pore. When this occurs, the infection becomes even more angry and swollen. This can also begin affecting other surrounding pores, spreading the acne breakout even more.

One of the most effective ways to treat acne is washing the effected area at least 3 times a day. Using a clean cotton wash cloth with a mild soap, gently wash the area without scrubbing. Do this in the morning, afternoon and late evening before going to bed. Always make sure the soap in not of a deodorant or abrasive type.
