Your skin can be your best feature. But you must take the steps today to keep it looking good tomorrow. Here are some simple steps we all can take can take to have better, healthier and greater looking skin.

Skin Care for Acne

  1. Never go to bed without washing your face with warm water and a mild soap. Oil, dirt, and makeup that have accumulated onto your skin during the day should be gently washed off before going to bed. If you go to bed with all of that goo still on your face, it can be pushed further into your pores as you toss and turn at night.

  2. Learn that sunscreen is your best friend. Yes, you should even apply some onto your face. You can buy special sunscreens that are made just for the face or makeup products that incorporate sunscreen into them. Remember, the sun’s rays can make our skin dryer, age quicker and can even cause skin damage such as skin cancer.

  3. If you get a pimple, do not squeeze it or try to pop it. These actions can lead to further irritation and even swelling. Instead, treat it with proper acne medications or cover-ups. Products that contain benzoyl peroxide may be helpful (if you are not allergic).

  4. Try to stop the habit of touching your face. Each time we touch our face, we are spreading bacteria from our fingers onto it. Another good habit to break is leaning against objects or holding the telephone mouthpiece in such a manner that it actually touches our face.

  5. Make a habit of cleaning any glasses you wear often (these include sunglasses). The bacterium that lies on the ear and nosepieces can spread onto your skin.

  6. Try to keep your hair off your face as much as you can, especially at night when you are sleeping.

  7. Change your pillowcases frequently. These, too, can hold bacteria that can get onto your face.

  8. If your skin becomes dry, look for a light moisturizing lotion to apply. If you are prone to breakouts, make sure it is one that is made for combination skin.

  9. Learn how to exfoliate. You should even gently exfoliate the skin of your face. Exfoliation is a process that helps to remove dead, dry skin. You can easily do this by purchasing a face scrub that contains tiny grains. You just simply apply the scrub to your face in circular motions. Then using a soft cloth and warm water rinse off.

  10. Drink eight glasses of water a day. Water is key to keeping your body hydrated. Water is also key to keeping your skin soft and younger looking.
