To reduce the effects of accidents at work, there are few vital factors that have to be looked into by the employers of the organization. Employers are required to provide a safe work milieu for the workers and employees with the following essentials:
-Employing competent employees who are safety conscious.
-Supplying proper tools, equipments and sufficient training to be able to use them.
-Providing a safe place to work -ensuring that there are enough fire exit routes, proper ventilation of air, the surrounding of the work area to be clean, ample sanitation facilities etc.
In the event of an accident, immediate action must be taken. The concerned supervisor or the people who are in charge of the safety measures of the company should be notified immediately. The concerned people should take the responsibility to give the required first aid to the victim and then take him to the nearest hospital if further treatment is needed. It is very essential to have first aid treatment in the organization itself. All such incidents in the premises should be noted in a file for keeping a record. This information should be notified to the local health and safety council.
After the accident, it is very essential to file a record of the accident in the office to claim the compensation as quick as possible. The company's concerned authorities should contact you to have a brief discussion regarding the compensation. This should be done within a certain period of time. It is duty of the company to give what ever is needed. The compensation should be delivered to you fully without any delays or further confusions since it is the liability of the company.
Denial of giving the compensation can be taken across to the law so that the compensation is given. The claim can be availed within three years of the accident if concrete proofs are submitted.
So now you know what you should be doing in an accident at work. Follow these simple steps and understand that the responsibility is off your shoulders when such events happen.
