Most gamblers fall into one of two different categories. They are either a thrill of the win player or a fear of the loss players. You will find that gamblers that are thrill of the win players are the people who will go all out and either win big or lose big. The fear of the loss players are likely to be much more cautious in their approach to gambling. Whilst they are never going to win big they are never going to lose big either. There are obvious advantages and disadvantage of falling into either one of the two categories.

If you are a thrill of the win player then what keeps you going in the prospect of winning more and more money. Thrill of the win players are much more likely to just keep playing as they are getting their kicks from the chance to win more money. This type of strategy can see players of this type go on massive winning streaks however if out of control players like this can also go on big losing streaks. The most successful people with these characteristics will set themselves a stop loss and once they hit that number will realize it is not their day and stop playing.

Fear of the loss players are more likely to stop playing much quicker than the thrill of the win players. Being scared of losing money is their thing so in actual fact they aren't real gamblers. A fear of the loss player will have a sensible losing limit and will always stick to it. They will also stop playing if they are winning money as they fear losing it back into the game. The problem with this strategy is that as a fear of the loss player you are pretty unlikely to ever have a big winning session. On the flip side of the coin you are never going to have big losing sessions either, which in the long run is probably more important.

People with gambling problems will be the thrill of the win players and not the fear of the loss players. If you are a thrill of the win kind of gambler then it is very very important to set yourself a limit of money you can lose and then stick to it. Doing this even though you want to carry you will be able come back another day when you might be luckier. If you lose all your money in one unlucky session then your not giving yourself a chance to beat the game.

Fear of the loss players probably need to carry on a little bit longer when they are winning. They are often over cautious and therefore prevent themselves from winning big. It is good that they have a stop loss and should do their best to stick to this at all times. Remember to be able to stop playing if things are not going your way. There is always another day that you can gamble.
