Dry skin care options involve good hygiene and the use of effective home treatments. For example, switch to lukewarm baths or showers rather than preparing hot baths. Hot baths can dry out your skin. It is also isn't advisable that you stay soaked in the water for too long. Give yourself ten minutes worth of a relaxing lukewarm bath. Any second longer and your skin dries out.
Another reason your skin might be dry is if you are using harsh products on your face. This can happen with people of any skin type. Sometimes those with oily skin feel like it's okay to use harsh drying products or wash their face often because they think the oil will just take care of the problem. This can sometimes have the opposite effect and dry patches will appear.
When the skin loses moisture it may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. Dry skin can be due to a genetic condition but it's not common. Environmental factors, such as exposure to sun, wind, cold, chemicals, or cosmetics, or excessive bathing with harsh soaps, can cause dry skin. Certain drugs, including diuretics, antispasmodics, and antihistamines, can contribute to dry skin conditions; check with your pharmacist or doctor and read the drug insert - you can get one from your pharmacist. When the oil glands do not supply enough lubrication to the skin, the skin becomes dehydrated. Forced-air furnaces may make skin even drier than it already is.
Apply cool compresses to any itchy areas. Use bath oils and moisturizers, or better yet, coconut oil, daily. Apply moisturizers just after a bath or shower, when your skin is still damp. To see what coconut oil can do for your skin fast, apply coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime. When you buy coconut oil, make sure you get the kind that hasn't been refined, processed and deodorized. Apply coconut oil to irritated or chapped lips as well; it's edible, so it's safe and so healing to the lips.
Eat a lot of green vegetables and fruits as a good and balanced diet is the basis of a healthy and glowing skin. Apart from a balanced diet water plays an essential role in keeping the skin beautiful. Plenty of water intake leads to a healthy mind, body, soul and skin as water hydrates the skin. Wash you face and naked skin regularly at least 2 to 3 times a day. Cleaning, moisturizing and toning are essential for all types of skin. Apply a body lotion daily after bath. Be gentle with the skin underneath your eyes. Make exercise a daily routine to increase circulation.
Eat an avocado every day; put it in your salad or mash it up and eat it with a spoon. Drink freshly extracted carrot juice, if you can, every day; carrot juice is an excellent cleanser for the liver, great for the skin and contains a great deal of nutrients, all beneficial for dry skin, eczema, acne, zits, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and other breakouts. Use olive oil or olive oil with fresh flaxseed oil in big, dark green salads to help your skin.
