If in the past it was questionable, nowadays there is no doubt that the air you breathe at home contains a variety of particles: mold, bacteria, viruses, cigarette smoke, and various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are harmful to health. In the U.S., the greatest country in the world, allergies, respiratory diseases, and lung problems have increased considerably in the recent decades; the air becomes a carrier of disease. Worse is that even inside your house you are not protected from being affected by airborne diseases. If in the past it was optional, these days it is imperative to have a home air purifier.
If living with asthma, allergies is difficult, purification of air inside your home is relatively simple and easy; in addition, it does not cost you a lifetime of suffering and expense as is the case of asthma, allergies and other respiratory system diseases. You can obtain an air purification system for the entire house or for just a room. At a low cost, you can have an effective air cleaner to capture contaminants (viruses, bacteria, etc.) and allergen particles (pollen, dust mite, dander, pet hair, etc.). There are three types of air purifiers: mechanics, electronics and ionic. Certain air purifiers, however, are a combination of mechanical and electronic (hybrid air purifiers).
Mechanical air purifiers – this type of air purifiers are very effective in the elimination of gas, cigarette odor, and small particles of 0.3 microns (pollen, mold, fungus spores, dust mites, smoke, bacteria, etc.). Mechanical air purifier may include a UV lamp, HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter), or an active carbon filter. They were developed during World War II by the Atomic Energy Commission of the United States to retain radioactive dust.
Ionic air purifiers - ionic air purifiers clean the air of heavy metals, viruses and bacteria by producing negative ions that attract pollutants in suspension. Once negatively charged, these particles are fixed on the surfaces of the house (walls, furniture, fabrics, etc.) which are positively charged. These metals, becoming inactive and harmless, fall on the ground. In addition, there are certain ionic air purifiers that are very sophisticated, which contain activated carbon filters or other membranes to capture smoke and gases.
Electronic air purifiers – as the name explains, the functioning of electronic air purifiers is based on a magnetic field. All particles suspended in the air are ionized positively in contacted with the purifier. All allergens and contaminants bind subsequent to the filter that is negatively charged by the passage of an electric current. The particles become inactive, and no longer represent a threat to your health.
