Two basic ways exist that you can build your network marketing business today. One is to concentrate in offline methods to generate leads and reach your prospects, and the second to use the power of Internet to get in front of the eyes of people that long to start a home business and are already searching for info about it.
Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages and any distributor can become successful regardless of the method he chooses to follow. Of course, the majority of people show a preference and an inclination for online prospecting due to the fact that most lack the necessary social skills, and the thought that can run the whole show behind a computer screen certainly allures them.
Don't discount the power of web prospecting because people come to it trying to avoid the offline person to person contact. The net can give you great opportunities to get your message to millions of surfers from all over the world, and build faster a huge organization. This medium has a great reach and this is what makes it powerful for advertising, plus the fact that you can do it on a limited budget and always track your result so you know what works or not.
To begin with, the foremost important thing you need in order to work online is education. It is a technical field and in order to make use of all of the great tools that the Internet is offering, you need first to know how do it. There are certain skills you need to develop before you start seeing any substantial results. No need to afraid as such things are relatively easy to learn, they are not quantum physics for sure, but they still take their time and you should devote the necessary time to them.
Second, without your own website you can't go far. And when I say your own, I really mean your own with its own domain name and hosted on a paid server. Don't waste your time with free webhosting, at least not for your main site, and certainly don't expect with the replicated webpage that the company gave you to go far. Every other company distributor has the same one and you would face great difficulties to increase its search engine ranking or drive PPC(pay per click) traffic. Needles to say that your prospect won't take you much seriously in a case like this. Of course, there are tactics in which such free tools may be used for traffic generation, but they all revolve around your main site that would be the end receiver.
Third, you need an auto responder service. Its function is to follow up through email with those prospects that inquired more information from you about the opportunity. You should make it your number one rule to capture your visitors email address when they visit you website. If not, there's a good chance that they would never come back. Try to give them something in exchange to incentivize them to subscribe, and then let your auto responder to do its business by sending them the messages you uploaded in order to convert them to customers or distributors.
Fourth, traffic is the "manna" for every marketer. Without it everything else is useless and a waste of money. What's the point to have the most beautiful website and the greatest opportunity if no one else can find you? Of course, due to its importance, there's fierce competition for the eyes and the browsers of the surfers. You need to learn seo(search engine optimization) in order to improve your sites rankings. PPC which refers to advertising to search engine listings like that of Google, Yahoo or MSN and finally ads on other websites whether in text or by using banners.
Last, but not least, your copywriting skills would determine how well your prospects would convert to distributors or customers. There is a whole science there on how to do it effectively and volumes can be written about it. Knowledge and practice can lead you at becoming better at every step you take in it and greatly improve the results you get.

Well, the answer in that case is, what you can't do, you can always outsource it. Hire someone who has that knowledge to do it for you while you are concentrating in the management and leadership of your organization.
