When you are printing literature pieces for your organization, you do not want to overpay. After all, printing is supposed to make your job easier and more cost efficient. Maybe your printing is designed to streamline your business, or maybe it is designed to attract more customers. Either way, you want to avoid paying costs that you do not need to incur. Here are some tips to make sure that you are not overpaying for your printing needs.
Avoid Mistakes
Mistakes can cause for costly reprints. Therefore, you should use care to avoid mistakes wherever you can. The most practical way to do this is to give yourself plenty of time for your printing job. This will allow you to adequately proof your job before it heads to the final printing, avoiding any costly or embarrassing mistakes.
Save Time
In the business world, time is money. You want to avoid delays in your printing project as much as possible. In some cases, it may be more cost effective to do the design work yourself. However, if you are not a graphics designer, you can save time and money by hiring someone else to create your project while you complete other business-related tasks.
Know What You are Paying for
When you create your print order, you should know what you are paying for. This may require doing some research. For example, do you really need to pay the higher cost for a higher weight card stock for your project, or will a lower weight, less expensive stock work? Would another binding method be more effective? Can you achieve the desired results with two-color printing instead of four-color? While you do not want to sacrifice quality, you also do not want to pay for additional features that you do not need. Talk to the printer about other options and ask to see samples to compare for yourself.
Look at Value, Not at Cost
You may save money per copy if you order 3000 copies, but is that really a savings if you only needed 300? When looking at volume discounts, it is important to consider not just the cost per item, but how many items you will really use. It is no savings to you if have of the copies you made will end up unused in a filing cabinet somewhere.
Is the Estimate Accurate?
Just like with any other service, you will want to double check your estimates. Does the estimate include the cost of shipping, taxes, and set up fees, or will these be added in later? If they will be added on after your final total, then you should find out how much these extras will actually cost. An all-inclusive package from another company may be a better bargain.
Do not go Overboard with Customization
A little customization will make your project stand out, but a lot could be a waste of money. Avoid going overboard when detailing your project. Projects that are too large or too small could be difficult to use as mail outs. Odd-shaped business cards might stand out, but will be useless if the client cannot fit them in their rolodex. A bold font might be just as effective as paying for custom ink. Think before you customize to make sure that you are getting a real value.
Save on your company’s printing costs by choosing a company that works together with you to help you achieve your goals. Whether you need PsPrint’s postcard printing or brochures printing services, the right printing company can help you leverage your marketing investments for maximum returns.
