The history of hot tubs goes back to the ancient times. Men in the early days recognized the hot springs or natural geysers benefits. They were used because of their healing power and warmth. Men in 2000BC in Egypt used the warm baths for recuperation and relaxation. It is even claimed that in 600BC in Persia Phrarotes had a hot tub. The Greeks were also very much aware of the healing power of water and so quite often build hot springs.

In early days, Japanese and Chinese cultures enjoyed the curative properties of water. The most well known proponents of spa baths and hot springs were Romans. They built settlements throughout the Empire around the baths and natural springs. The most popular one is Roman settlement at Bath in UK that grew into labyrinth of spas and bathing areas. Queen Elizabeth visited Bath in 1500s to take the advantages of soothing water out there. Hot tubs by 1950s were beginning to take their shapes.

Jacuzzi family migrated to US from Italy around 20th century. The family got involved in machining propellers for the aeroplanes. After Giacando (one of Jacuzzi brothers) died in an accident, the family started making up pumps for agricultural sector.

Candido, at one point of time, focused in the business of pumps. He realized that he could make use of same technology for creating the home whirlpool pump for giving comforting hydrotherapy between the hospital visits. In the year 1955, the Jacuzzi pump (J-300) was first put on sale. J-300 pump was a remarkable solution for relaxation and hydrotherapy.

The first self contained, fully integrated Jacuzzi was the unit dubbed Roman Bathtub. It had new jets in walls of tub which moved water and air in even mixture for creating an improved experience of spa. In 1970s, Jacuzzi created the hot tubs with filtration, heating jets and portable spa.
