Baby acne can occur in very young babies of 2 or 3 weeks, more commonly boys, up until around 6 months or so. It appears on various parts of the baby’s body such as the forehead, cheeks and chin, or more rarely the bottom or back, and appears as small white spots on the skin. Or it could look like a red rash with raised bumps.
This baby skin condition occurs due to possible lingering hormones from the mother. These hormones affect the baby's sebaceous glands and thus cause small, reddish papules on the cheeks, which looks worst when the baby is upset, and crying.
Some people leave their pimples behind once they hit their 20s, while some are not so lucky. For people who still suffer from acne even in their 20s and beyond, there is no need to despair. A lot of treatment options are already available for adult pimples and most of them have been proven effective.
As a teenager or an adult we can quite often blame the acne on hormones resulting in very oily skin. However with the baby acne there is no real idea as to the cause of it so that's why there are no real treatments for it. The comforting thing is that it will usually not be around any longer than a few weeks before it totally disappears.
Teenagers comprise the largest population who suffer from acne among all the age groups. This is explained by the onset of puberty, the period in a human's life when the body starts producing androgens. Although teenage boys are more likely to suffer from pimples than girls, it is the women who are likely to carry the condition to their adulthood.
Acne is often caused by a change of hormones, bad nutrition and excessively oily skin. So how did your sweet little baby acquire any one of these causes? Obviously your child hasn't picked up any bad eating habits yet, and newborns don't usually suffer from oily skin. Hormones are the culprits.
Acne becomes more marked at puberty and during adolescent because the glands, which affect the secretions of the sebaceous glands, are working at peak activity. Acne is the most common on skin of adolescents and young adults between ages 11 and 34. Remedies for scars exists for those who have scarring following a breakout and do not want to deal with an expensive and painful surgical procedure.
Toothpaste has also been known for an instant acne remedy. Remedies for acne are often overlooked, but can be effective in lessening the acne outbursts. Moderate to severe acne, you should always contact your doctor for prescription oral antibiotics that may be needed to reduce bacteria and fight inflammation.
There are a number of medications available as adult acne remedy. However, you will have to be very careful before you intake medicines because some of them may not be suitable for you. Pregnant women, especially have to be careful because not all drugs are recommended since they are not suitable for the unborn baby.
