There are times when everyone needs a little time away from the stress of everyday life. A Hawaii vacation can give you time in the sun to relax and have fun.
One of the best things about Hawaii is that the temperature is always moderate. Even in the summer, the trade winds can always provide a cooling breeze and there are plenty of beaches and clear blue ocean for a swim. During the winter, the temperatures remain warm enough for surfing and enjoying the water. In fact, in the winter, waves are even larger offering some of the best times for surfing.
When planning a vacation to Hawaii, you may want to plan to visit one island or make plans to visit more than just that one island.
Most people make their first trip to Oahu to visit Honolulu and Waikiki beach. On the southerly shores of Oahu, you will find Pearl Harbor and the historic USS Arizona Museum, however there is much more to see and do in Hawaii. While you can get flights to the other Islands directly from the mainland, most flights connect through the airport on Oahu.
Just north of Oahu, you will find the island of Kauai. This is the oldest island in Hawaii. You will find much natural beauty on the island and many opportunities for romantic escapades and outdoor adventure. The Coconut Coast offers golden sand beaches and to the other side of the island is Waimea Canyon. This canyon has been called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.
Opposite in the chain from Kauai is Molokai. Almost half of the population of Molokai is of native Hawaiian roots. This island remains strongly connected to its Hawaiian heritage.
Lanai has no traffic lights. It is one of the least crowded of all the islands and is a perfect place for romance and privacy. You will also find two prestigious golf courses located in Lanai.
Maui is the second largest in the island chain and has some of the best beaches anywhere in the world. Here you will also have opportunity to view the many Humpback whales that visit Maui every winter.
The Big Island is larger than the combined area of all the other islands in Hawaii. Here you will find eleven of the worlds thirteen climatic zones. You will also have opportunity to visit a live volcano as well as sandy beaches and snowcapped mountains.
With all there is to see and do, you may want to combine your vacation with a cruise around the islands. Many of the cruises begin and end in Honolulu and allow you to spend a day on each of the islands. You never have to worry about where you will sleep for the night as the cruise ship has your room for each of the nights. You will also enjoy world class dining.
If you do choose to spend time in Hawaii, there are thousands of hotel rooms available. In addition, you will find many vacation homes and condominiums that are available for comfortable home-away-from-home lodging while you are in Hawaii.
