Now, you may think that you can't get ripped abs, but you'd be wrong. There is a method to doing so, even if you've never done so before. It takes some time and dedication, but you can do it.
Focus, focus, focus
There are several elements to a good workout program to get ripped abs, of course, but the main thing is that you have to stay focused on what you want. So first, set yourself up with a workout program that you can stick to, and then do it three to five days a week. Focus on "circuit training" of sorts, by doing bench presses, military presses, leg and bicep curls, rowing, back extensions, squats, and dead lifts as well as ab exercises.
In your workout, do your abs first
When you work out, do your abs first so that you're starting fresh and working them hard. That's not to say, of course, that you can wimp out on the rest of your workout, but you're likely to work harder at the very start to at least some extent, so do your abs first. Then, do the rest of your workout.
Tax muscles to their fullest
You don't want to hurt yourself, so go easy if you haven't been exercising for a while. Ideally, you should focus on exercise sets that have 10 to 12 reps in each, and each set should be at a weight where it's easy to start a set, but by the end of it, you can barely lift the weight you've chosen. You want to exhaust your muscles.
Take a day off every other day
When you are weightlifting to build bulk and get ripped abs, you might think that you'd be going too easy on yourself if you skip a day between workouts, but that's exactly what you need to do. That's because when you lift weights, especially intensely like you're doing, you're basically injuring your muscles so that they will repair themselves, bigger and stronger. But to do that, you have to stay off the weight, so to speak, every other day and get the rest you need.
Sleep and nutrition count
Finally, you need to get enough sleep and get enough "good" calories so that you can have the fuel you need to get ripped abs. So focus on a diet that contains plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins like lean beef and chicken, fish, omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids, and complex carbohydrates. If you can't eat enough calories with "good" food to get the ripped abs you need, don't go for junk food. Instead, throw in some meal replacement shakes (two or three should do it) in addition to the meals you're eating to fill out your calories. Then, at the end of the day, make sure you are getting a good night's sleep.
