Practically every home in the United Kingdom has at least one catalogue strewn about somewhere. It might have been unsolicited or it might have been ordered by a member of the household, but it’s there. Catalogues are a great advertising tool. They allow potential customers the option to not only view what is available but to compare similar items so they can make a more informed choice. As such, many business owners are turning towards catalogue printing as their preferred method of offline marketing. Some essential tools are needed for this:
Design Template:
The busy business person doesn’t have the time to sit and fiddle around with design elements. Luckily they don’t need to. Pre-designed templates are available for almost any niche, usually at very affordable prices. In most cases an instant download is offered after payment and all that needs to be done is the addition of products. For the more creatively oriented, there are templates which allow manipulation of borders and backgrounds if so desired.
Digital Camera:
This is no longer an option when it comes to catalogue printing. It is a
necessity. No one has the time or money to spend on film development that can
take several days. Not when there is an option available that allows for instant
photos. It’s incredibly simple to move images directly from the camera to the
computer for editing so there’s for investing in a scanner.
Image Manipulation Software:
Don’t even think about attempting to put a catalogue together without this. One of the popular pieces of software within this genre is Adobe Photoshop, which takes some practice to master but is quite effective at enhancing images so that they look extra special. The aim is to create photos which would appeal to the customer and make them want to own that product. Having the right software will open up a lot of options for creating unique, great-looking images.
Publishing Software:
Most computers today come with some form of word processing software already loaded. While this can have many applications, including helping with drafting product descriptions, something a little more powerful may be needed when it comes to finalizing a layout. Desktop publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher can help with this and even offer a few ideas that might have been overlooked.
Digital Printer:
Once the design phase is over, it’s time to concentrate on the actual catalogue printing. There’s no point to having an exquisite template and a poor printer. Digital printers tend to offer higher quality images and produce them at a faster rate than other printers. That’s good news when time is of the essence.
A decision must be taken on how the catalogues are going to be printed. Are they going to be done in-house or will someone else be hired for the job? Online printing can be a good option if one is looking to take the hassle out of having catalogues done. There are a number of companies which can take ideas and make them into stunning creations. However, items such as photos still need to be supplied and some may rather having a more direct role in their catalogue printing.
