It is needless to explain the importance of a pet to anyone who owns one. Like we humans pets too require regular care in order to remain healthy and active. Natural remedies have the power to heal all manners of diseases in pets and can help them cope with their general physical complications.
A few natural remedies are discussed here which may help the pet owners to treat their pet’s minor problems.
Urinary tract infection is a common problem in pets like cats and dogs. The main reason behind this is because they have the habit of holding urine in their bladder for a long time. The prime natural remedy is to teach dogs how to use a particular place in a bathroom for urinating. You can also take them for a walk in a gap of 2-3 hours and make them release urine naturally.
Apart from antibiotics, pets can be given homeopathic remedies like berberis, cantharis, uva ursi or a combination of these herbal medicines to treat the urinary tract infection.
You can also give them citrus fruits like oranges to treat the infection.
Formation of gas is a common problem for the pets. Homeopathic medicines like carbo veg of 200-potency can help cure their discomfort.
Some times pets [mostly dogs] suffer from ear mites. In this situation an herbal oil combination of almond and vitamin E should be massaged on the inside of a pet’s ear. When the pet starts shaking his/her head that means the mites have been smothered. You can wipe the mites off with a cotton ball.
The pets suffering from arthritis problem must walk at least 20 minutes regularly in the morning. In the winter season the pet should be given a soft bed to sleep on; it protects the pet from cold as well as from the hard floor.
In case a pet develops asthma [cats are prone to develop asthma] installation of a humidifier will help him/her to stay fit.
If a dog develops foul odor in his/her mouth it is the signal of plaque formation. Give the pet a small apple piece or feed him/her a raw carrot. If the problem still persists consult your vet doctor; your pet may require thorough de-worming.
It is better not to feed the pet when you are about to take him/her for a car ride. The front seat is ideal for the pet as it gives him/her a nice view of the outer environs. Put your pet right next to where you are sitting. It makes the pet comfortable and secured. Pets usually vomit when travelling. As a precautionary measure you can give your pet an anti- vomit tablet ½ an hour before the journey.
