Still selling in the thousands every day the award winning Slanket has been one of the "must have" items in 2009 and now 2010. The incredibly amazing Slanket phenomenon continues to grow with some retailers claiming sales of over 1/2million in a single month!
So just what is a Slanket?
The Slanket - The Blanket With Sleeves was Invented in 1998 by an American student who was struggling to keep warm in his flat during a particularly cold winter. The original design created by his mother has now gone on to make him millions of dollars. There are now copies on the market but the original Slanket still remains the most popular.
Now available in different versions retailers are still struggling to keep up with demand and are selling out as soon as new stock becomes available. The Slanket is available in a range of colours and 4 different styles. There is the single Slanket a double Slanket and now a Slanket just for kids as well as Travel version. All of the versions are available in different colours and patterns from camouflage to bright pink!
Once you are snuggled down underneath one of these things it is very difficult to remove yourself from its grasp. In fact the design of the open sleeves enables you to carry on with most activities whilst still enjoying the warm generated by the 100% Super Soft Polyester Microfibers.
People are using their Slankets for all kinds of things including watching TV, working on their computers, studying and much more. There are even travel versions available so you can keep warm whilst being whisked to whatever destination you are going to. Over Christmas this year many people were getting stuck in the snow and trapped for hours in traffic jams. A Slanket from Slanket UK is a very valuable item to have packed in your boot during winter for such emergencies.
The original Slanket is machine washable and approximately 152.4cm wide x 241.3cm long that's 5ft x 8ft in old money! The double version comes in at a huge 304.8cm wide x 241.3cm long. The travel version is slightly shorter and comes with its own carry case. The kids version is 111cm wide x 167cm long and comes in some great patterns and colours.
The jury is very much out with regard to how cool having one of these things is with the verdict split between the "wouldn’t be seen dead in one", to the "can’t live without it" brigade.
No matter which side of the fence you are on there is no denying that heating bills are not getting any cheaper and to be able turn the heating down or even off for a few hours whilst you are like toast under your favourite coloured slanket is a not a bad thing.
People who would benefit from owning one of these vary from the Student on a tight budget to elderly people trying to conserve energy whilst sitting through a long cold winter. There is also the opportunity of Snuggling up to your loved one on a cold Winters eve whilst watching your favourite programme and that does have its appeal.
Slanket owners or "Slanketeers" are pretty complimentary about their new found warmth generating friend with comments like "possibly the comfiest thing ever", "couldn’t live without it" to "quite possibly one of the greatest gifts I've ever received!!!
Enough said!
One final word of warning is to buy a Branded version, with a whole plethora of Chinese copies flooding the market made with sub standard materials it is easy to get "Fleeced", sorry about that!
