O.K. Let me first say this: when I hear the word 'Mompreneur,' I have a vision of a cutsied up little mom, dabbling at a home business knowing that her successful Corporate-America husband will pay the bills and the payment on her BMW X-5 with 2 car seats in the back. No one takes her seriously and sees her mostly as a mom and certainly not as a career woman.

So, may I also mention that I am a mom and an entrepreneur, so I guess that makes me a 'Mompreneur,' but let me tell you, if the vision above comes to your head, buddy, you'd better take your hand and slap it upside your head for me!

At a recent internet marketing event called the 'No Excuses Summit,' I was introduced to a few internet marketing phenoms. I was bowled over by the levels of success that these entrepreneurs had reached at such a young age. 'Kid's in their mid to late 20's who had earned millions (or getting pretty close to it) talking about 'living in their parent's basement' while they learned the ins and outs of internet marketing.

At first, my self-confidence was shot to hell because there I sat as a 35 year old mom of two who has not made her first million....YET! That said, I left there with the highest level of confidence I have achieved yet. Why? Because in listening in on what was being taught by these successful entrepreneurs, I left with the confidence in knowing that I have successfully put together a business that is consistently building each day. I had the confidence in knowing that I had the sales funnel set up that these kids had put together years ago in their parent's basements. I left there feeling, in my belly, that I was on track to reaching my first million by age 40.

You see, as I learned about the HOW in getting to my first million, I realized that achieving that milestone will be much more of an accomplishment than those who reach it at a young age. I am in no way taking away from what these youngsters have achieved however, when a mother can juggle a household, kids, a successful network marketing business, and achieve millionaire status, THAT is a level of accomplishment that only a 'Wonder Woman' can achieve! And I really do think that only a WOMAN can achieve it!

These kids had nothing but time to figure out Internet Marketing. In most cases, they had the comfort of their parent's homes, they didn't have kids yelling at the top of their lungs, 'M-A-M-A, where aaaare you' as they hid in the garage trying to get an article written, they didn't have the responsibility of cooking dinner for a family, keeping the house clean and not smelling like poop, and not having to 'stay connected' with their husband while they tried to keep their careers going.

Being a successful network marketing and internet marketer is hard in and of itself. It takes a lot of time, training, implementing, tweaking and figuring out. Being a mother trying to hold her personal life together and still keeping HER career goals in front of her is even harder. I was surprised by the lack of women on stage at the 'No Excuses Summit.' Only one, however, I will add, that the only woman presenter, Katie Freiling, is young and not a mother. I am not sure if she is single, however, I am certain she isn't married, so again my point...without kids, figuring all this out doesn't have the risk involved.

Although I wish I had started building my own business in my 20's, I recognize it wasn't my 'time.' I have always been a driven, dedicated individual and I spent my 20's thinking I needed a 'corporate' career. I have spent my early 30's trying to 'find' myself. At 35, I have found that, with two kids in tow and it makes me even more PASSIONATE to make it even more. I have no doubts I will be on stage presenting at the next 'No Excuses Summit' (although, I just got an email yesterday that the next one will be in the spring of 2011, so I better get cranking!) and I will be representin' all the proud 'Mompreneurs' out there! I will not quit, I will not fail, I will succeed for all the moms out there who thought their life had to go on the back-burner because they have a house to run. To hell with that! We can do that and still have our career goals! We ARE 'Mompreneurs!'
