In the world of Multi-Level Marketing there are many events that require interaction with new people and prospects for your business. In this business conversational skills are key to being successful. Leaving people with a positive image of you is very important, and good communications skills are vital to this image. This ability to talk easily with someone is a learned skill and not a personality trait, so the more you prepare yourself, the better luck you will have.

The following are a few tips that business professionals can use to improve their communication skills at such events:

  1. Be the first to say hello and introduce yourself.

  2. Smile!!! This is the key to making friends. A smile makes people feel warm and comfortable.

  3. Shake hands and make eye contact when you meet anyone. Making eye contact is the most positive signal you can give. Remember, people don’t feel listened too if you’re not looking at them.

  4. Don’t leave anyone out. Show an interest in every person and listen to what they have to say first. This makes you look wiser and more attractive to others.

  5. Ask questions and be interested in the people you are communicating with. People are more attracted to those who are interested in them and their thoughts. In the long run if you show people you care about them, they will be more interested in what you have to say.

  6. Body language is very important. Act confident and comfortable, even if you are not. Nervous or ill-at-ease people make others feel uncomfortable.

  7. During your conversation try to be enthusiastic when it is appropriate. Use your body language and voice to emphasis this.

  8. When leaving the conversation make a positive impression by shaking hands and saying goodbye.

  9. Learn from your interactions. If the conversation went good try to think why it went well and remember the key points for the next time. If it didn’t go so well use what you learned and don’t be afraid to try again.
