Party planning takes quite a bit of work. There are many details to think about like the food, the guest list, the decorations, and of course the beverages. However, you also want to do something to make your party different and fun. Believe it or not, revisiting the idea of serving jello shots might be a way to add that unexpected element of fun to your party.

When most people think of jello shots, they think of those college parties they used to attend. The ones that were held in someone's crowded apartment or in the basement of a fraternity house. There someone would circulate with almost see through paper cups filled to the brim with jello and topped off with whipped cream. Part of the fun was watching your friends try to suck the shot out of the cup without it winding up all over their face, which rarely happens.

As fun as that was during your college years, it is not necessarily what you want for your more sophisticated adult events. However, that does not mean you want to skip out on including jello shots. Jello shots can actually be a lot of fun if done in the right way.

The first thing that you want to do is to serve them in the right way. Gone are the days where you made due with the cheapest paper cup that you could find. Instead, today you can find really neat plastic cups to serve from. You want to make sure that these are small in size to be easy to eat. Additionally, you may want to choose plastic cups that are in fun and festive colors. By coordinating these with your parties color scheme, you can create a cohesive look.

Next, you might want to think about how you are topping off your jello shots. You want to make them look like finely crafted refreshments rather than simply taking a can of spray whipped cream to them as people take them off the tray. Instead, you may want to top them off with whipped cream, but you might want to choose a product like cool whip that has a bit more staying power. Additionally, you might want to think about topping that off with a bit more detail. Small cherries, colored sprinkles, and candied fruits can make a beautiful visual display. You may want to forgo the toppings all together and simply present a sleek and modern jello shot to your guests.

The final way you might want to help jello shots fit into your party a bit more is by simply removing the thought that your guests need to "suck them down." Instead, you might want to look at having small spoons available to allow your guests to enjoy eating the shot. Generally, adults like to take their time and savor what they are eating, and presenting them with the utensils to do this will be much appreciated.
