Barrier repair works at repairing damage caused by soap and water, pollution, cold weather, harsh-cosmetics or anything that strips the skin. This sensitive skin moisturiser is waterless and helps repair this damage.
Redness, irritation, flakiness and itchiness and cause havoc on your skin. This dermalogica moisturiser is a must have product you need in your skin care routine.
Dermalogica Moisturiser Barrier Repair - Let's Examine It
Natural silicones are used in the dermalogica moisturiser Barrier Repair. They come from parts of plants and therefore organic and natural Protecting and moisturising the skin is what makes silicones great, but they also have the added benefit of acting as a barrier and making the skin really silky smooth, without causing any irritation to the skin.
The silicones dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane included in this dermalogica formulation work together to improve the barrier of the skin. The barrier function of the skin is protected by the silicones as the melt between the skin's cells. Protecting the skin, reducing moisture loss and preventing dehydration. Dehydration can cause sensitivity.
Don't underestimate the value of silicones. They are an important ingredient in this product because they stop dehydration, which leads to sensitivity.
The sensitive complex by dermalogica is used in Barrier Repair along with the silicones. This Anti-Ozonate Complex consists of (fumeric acid, furmitory extract and lemon extract). The fantastic ingredient Fumeric Acid protects the skin's membranes, vitamins, proteins, hylauronic acid content and enzymes from pollution.
Vitamin E can be reduced by as much as 25% in your skin by being exposed to ground level pollution with sunlight. This environmental pollution is toxic and destroys vitamin E in your skin's cells.
Your cell membranes are protected by vitamin E. Ageing is accelerated when vitamin E is not present in the skin - you can see why using vitamin E in skin care is important. Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, smoothes the skin, protects the skin's barrier functions and deeply moisturises. Thank goodness barrier repair contains vitamin E.
Vitamin C is used a lot in skin care and is used in this dermalogica moisturiser because of its antioxidant protection for the skin.
Shea Butter and Evening Primrose Oil are included in this moisturiser.
Linoleic Acid in Evening Primrose Oil is used to enforce the barrier of the skin while Shea Butter stops dehydration and protects the skin from the environment.
Tightness, flakiness, Dry, scaly skin are all signs of dehydration. If you actually gently pulled your skin, if it's dehydrated it will form sort of crinkles and even if your skin is oily, you can still experience dehydration.
Skins that are irritated, will love the anti-inflammatory ingredient Bisabolol from the Chamomile Plant. It heals, soothes and calms irritation.
Skin Moisturisation - is Barrier Repair Good Enough?
Hydration is improved by this sensitive skin moisturiser because is restores the internal water balance and barrier function of the skin. Three weeks is the recommended time limit for you to see improvement in the skin. If you suffer with severe dehydration you will need to use another moisturiser over the top as you will find this not enough hydration.
I like to use skin smoothing cream over the top for extra hydration if needed. This product is to be used when your skin is environmentally sensitized. When your skin is repaired you can go back to your normal dermalogica moisturiser.
Occasionally I suffer with sensitivity on my neck. Using the dermalogica ultracalming sensitive range on my neck for two weeks repairs it and I switch back to my usual range.
Any irritation or sensitivity needs to be treated with dermalogica's barrier repair, it's worth the investment in your skin.
