During the summer months, most eBay sellers will see a dramatic reduction in the amount of goods they are selling. This is because people prefer to be out and about when the weather is good rather than sitting in front of their laptop or PC. So how do eBay sellers cope with the summer slowdown? Below we offer some tips that will help with keeping costs down but profits up during the slow months.

Tip 1 - The first thing you should do is reduce the number of items you list. Remember you will still have to pay a listing fee for every item you put on eBay whether it sells or not. However, knowing which items to actually not list for the summer months may prove difficult. The simplest way is to stop listing all items that don't have a good sell through rate. You don't have to stop selling them completely. Instead, move them to the eBay store or use the Fixed Price Listing format instead. The fees charged for using these services rather than the auction style listings are much lower.

Tip 2 - The next thing you should do is to increase the prices on the your most popular items. Okay it may seem counterintuitive, but although you may make fewer sales remember you will make a little more money when you do sell an item. You will find that many people are willing to pay that little bit more if they know that the quality of the products and the service provided is good.

Tip 3 - Another way eBay sellers cope with the summer slowdown on eBay is to reduce the prices on items that they stock which are not performing well. As well as helping to get rid of these items, it also means that you will have funds available to purchase more of the goods that are selling well and making a greater profit for you.

Tip 4 - It may seem like a silly idea, but if you want to make sure that your eBay business continues to thrive during the summer months, then you should be willing to cut back on the optional feature fees. When you look at your eBay statement each month you will be amazed at how much these fees for optional features amount to. Yes, these can help, but you need to look carefully and see if they are helping you with getting those all important sales. If you are careful about what features you include, you could end up saving real money when you remove these features from listings that are not doing that well.

Tip 5 - Finally, one way that has proved helpful is to employ the services of an auction management service. These services will not only help to save you time, but also reduce the amount you are spending on eBay fees.
