As people are getting more aware of the side effects of tanning under the sun, sunless tanning is becoming more popular. It is a proven fact that remaining under direct sunlight for tanning causes skin cancer and aging of the skin due to ill effects of ultraviolet rays of the sun. Those who want to get an even tan to look good and feel good are going for tanning products where exposure to the sun is not at all required, so it is called sunless.
Safe Sunless Tanning
Most sunless tanning products have the ingredient called dihydroxyacetone (DHA). This ingredient saturates the dead skin cells on upper layer of the skin and it turns the protein in the dead cells brown, so creating the tanning effect. DHA has been termed as safe to use by FDA, so the self tanning lotions are safe to be used on skin. It is in use since 1960, but with time more refined and easier to apply products have hit the market, sunless tanners made in sun labs are better than ever.
Some Advantages of The Sunless Tan
A very big advantage of sunless tan is that it is temporary. In 5 to 7 days, the tanning effect is gone, so no need for a long commitment. You can have the tan for a short period and let go of it very fast. The tanning itself takes very less time, like buying and applying a new lip color. You can get a tan today or tomorrow if you want no need to plan in advance.
When a sunless tan is used, using sunscreen regularly is no problem as it won't give you a pasty white skin. You get a golden brown hue with sun-protected skin. You don't need to expose in public, you get the tan in the privacy of your bathroom at only the parts of skin you want to. Just as a word of caution, it is advisable to use a trusted brand of sunless tanning products that contain DHA, so having the assurance of a safe and lovely tan.
Getting a sunless tan is easy with the use of readily available sunless tanning products. All these products contain an ingredient called dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is approved by the FDA as a safe chemical to use on skin.
