Whether you’re on the stage or the sidelines, a girl always wants to look good. This is especially true in the cheerleading and dance world, where looking great and feeling confident can make all the difference in any routine. Cheer and dance makeup are what keeps you feeling amazing, when the spotlight’s on. Here are a few great makeup ideas that could be that extra boost of confidence you need to perform at your best:

  • Play with your eye makeup. Cheer and dance makeup has no bounds when it comes to bold colors and designs in eye makeup. Make full use of this. Don’t be afraid to be creative and use colors you might not ordinarily select. The bolder the look, the bigger the impression you’ll make.

  • You can never use too much glitter. When you are underneath the lights, you want to shine. Glitter makeup is the best way to get the attention you want. Try spray glitter for a full body gloss. Glitter eye makeup and stickers can also be great accents to add glitz to any ensemble.

  • Keep your skin clean and dry for makeup that won't run. Oily skin is makeup’s worst adversary. To keep your makeup looking fresh throughout the whole day, clean your face prior to application so it can adequately absorb the makeup. Powder foundation can also be a great way to soak up sweat and oil to prevent running. Put powder around eyes for eye makeup that won’t smudge or smear.

  • Be natural when you are not in competition. When you are not in competition but still want to look great, try going for a more natural look. Practice isn’t the time for heavy cheer makeup that could potentially run or smear from sweat. Consider using waterproof mascara and liner on your top lid along with a light shimmer nude shadow. A light sweeping of blush and tinted lip balm can also be a terrific way to brighten up your face.

  • Test out your look. The best thing you can do is spend time to test out your look. Reserve some time to try out different makeup so you can look your best when the time comes to perform. Remember, sometimes what you think may look good in your head, isn’t always the best option when it comes game time.
