We all like to acquire that bronzed suntanned look, but abhor the understandable hazards of tanning in the sun in any form. So what is the way out? Obviously sunless tanning is the answer. Sunless tanning refers to the application of certain creams to the skin to produce an effect similar to suntan. In fact, the U.S, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearly stipulate that medically there is no cream termed "sunless tanner". Tanning products, such as brush-on powders and tinted moisturizers are a variety of products that help achieve a temporary tanned appearance. For those eager to buy these products for self tanning need to understand that some precautions need to be taken.
Here Are Some Important Pointers:
-
Tanning products do not necessarily provide protection from the sun. The products need to contain certain sunscreen ingredients and should be appropriately labeled with sun protection factor (SPF).
-
FDA has reports of instances where users have complained about unfavorable events associated with these products. These include rashes, coughing, dizziness and even fainting.
Consumers are therefore advised to carefully go through the ingredients listed on each product they intend to buy.
Some Helpful Tanning Tips
-
Avoid browning of skin during peak summer. However, if you want brown skin, start with only 10 to 15 minutes of exposure and increase gradually to acclimatize.
-
If you having acne, consult your doctor before you venture out to tan. Certain types of acne medication lower a person's resistance to sunlight.
-
Test the tanning product by applying it on a small area of your skin to check for any adverse effects.
Nowadays, there are bronzers available in the markets that are plant based. Promoters of these products claim that the ingredients contained in these have fewer chemicals. These products do not contain preservatives known as Parabens that supposedly adversely affect the endocrine system. Some tanning creams also contain one, 4 Dioxane that reportedly are carcinogenic. Probably, a safe bet is to go for organic products.
Sun Laboratories, Inc is the first professional self tanning product manufacturer and distributor with over a quarter of a century experience in the field of manufacturing tanning products.
