Artisan breads take only five minutes of your time when you prepare, unlike breads that take as much as an hour and more. It may sound pretty surprising, but it is definitely possible, here’s how:

If you imagine that there is some magic going on, you might be wrong since mixing the ingredients in three minutes and baking it in two is not how it works. Advance planning is the key here – you will have a dough already sitting in your fridge for 14 hours. It sounds like it is a long time compared to normal baking, but that wait will save you more time in the future.

The first thing you need to do is to create the Artisan Free Form Loaf called Boule. This is the master recipe, therefore it all starts with it. This dough can be used several times in the future.

To make a Boule dough, mix these ingredients together: Unbleached all-purpose white flour, yeast, lukewarm water and salt. Mix it thoroughly using a wooden spatula or if you prefer, a stand mixer with the dough hook attached or you can simply use your own hands. You don’t have to knead the dough, and you don’t have to worry about dissolving the ingredients. Just continually mix until the dough is moist and no dry patches can be found.

Find a container that is not completely airtight where you can safely store your boule dough. But before doing so, allow the dough to rise in room temperature for two hours. The dough can stay up for five hours or until it collapses. It is up to you if you want to bake it right away but experts suggest to store it in the refrigerator for about three hours for easier molding and shaping.

Next time you want to bake, just take out the prepared dough, cut a piece for a loaf and return the remaining in the refrigerator. This dough can last up to days, or weeks if properly handled. This Artisan bread five minutes a day is very easy to make and delicious too.
