Reality shows that feature face lifts and makeovers using surgery and injections still attract viewers who are most likely interested in the thrill of seeing participants improve their appearance. Maybe there is a vicarious nature to watching these shows; perhaps there is a secret wish that the viewers share – they too would like to see their droopy jowls and hooded eye lids be gone with one fell swoop of the surgeon’s scalpel or their sagging cheeks plumped with fillers.

Of course they would because no one wants to look old or show their age inappropriately. Who wants to wear an old looking, dowdy, matronly face? A full 80% of 42 cosmetic surgery patients polled by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons say they were influenced by watching television shows that depict enhancement surgery.

"It is unfortunate that patients are turning toward the entertainment industry for educational information – we had hoped for different results," said the study’s co-author, plastic surgeon Dr. John Persing. "These shows may create unrealistic, unhealthy expectations about what plastic surgery can do for you. Although it’s called reality TV, it may not be reality."

So many people look in the mirror only to feel helpless and depressed that they cannot afford surgery or injections to prop up their sagging faces. Maybe that’s a good thing because not everyone who elects to have face work done is thrilled with their results. In fact, it has been reported that a full one-third of those polled after surgery aren’t exactly crowing about their new look. The website Cosmetic Surgery Bible has researched the industry and discovered that only 37% of those surgically enhanced subjects polled liked their results. This is stunning news that makes one wonder why, if the odds of disliking a procedure is so great, is it worth the pain, risk and expense to choose this modality at all.

Spotting face work is easy – we see bunny lines on noses, over-inflated cheeks, lips that are large, lumpy and bumpy and even the wind tunnel look is still in evidence on both coasts.

Self confidence is vitally important to our role in life. If we look great, we feel great. If we are less than happy with our appearance, this feeling reflects and spills over into every area of our lives.

Enjoying a confident appearance does not require facial surgery or injections that plump and paralyze. In fact, using non-surgical methods to create a younger looking face is becoming more appealing as more and more men and women shake their heads at less than stellar results of surgery and injections while physicians strive to offer more natural methods for their patients.

Looking your best is as close as your thumbs and fingers when you learn that the secret to creating and maintaining a youthful face is reliably accomplished using isometric facial exercise techniques.

Isometric with resistance exercises for the face are different – they are not contortions, twists or puckers that can cause repetitive wrinkling – rather the contraction is created when the muscle is first isolated and then anchored. This is when lifting, toning and tightening of the features become visibly apparent.

Most users see and feel results occurring immediately when they use this method of facial rehabilitation. Using exercise is freeing – no drugs, no pain, no recurring outlay of money, no time away from family and friends and no ugly surprises.

Each area of the face and neck can be enhanced using isometric exercises – cheeks will lift and contour, the upper eyes will lift, the forehead will smooth and tighten, the lower mouth will firm, the neck will stop looking droopy, the appearance of crow’s feet will lessen and so will lines and wrinkles.

Television portrays only a fraction of the real story of those who allow their good looks to be altered with surgery; cutting perfectly healthy tissue and mutilating beautiful features may create over the top ratings for the networks but in real life the scars are visible, the results iffy and the safety of the individual can be severely compromised as risks such as infection and death are very valid.

In the privacy of your home you can transform your face into a younger, more radiant you. Most users, whether male or female, report that they look five, ten, even fifteen years younger when they exercise their faces. There is no risk, you’ll look like you so your friends and family will easily recognize you and you will love your new face.
