Many new workouts are introduced to the overweight public every year. While some are merely rehashes of old exercises, there are others that have come to light as a response to more recent scientific findings and/or some long-forgotten knowledge. But it seems that those who do work out are never satisfied and abandon a workout just as immediately as they started it.
Sometimes, individuals who start a particular regimen find that it doesn't give them the results they expect to see. They religiously stick with their chosen regimen expecting to see a desired change in their bodies after a certain period of time, only to stand in front of the mirror disappointed.
There are many reasons behind the failure of fitness programs to deliver desired results. Perhaps one of the most obvious reasons is the inability on the part of the individual to understand the kind of results a particular regimen delivers. For example, if your main objective is to get rid of belly fat and replace it with washboard abs at the soonest time possible but you enrolled yourself in a Yoga class, then that is not going to make you realize your objective. Yoga does get rid of fat and tone muscles eventually, but not in the expected time frame you wish to happen. Core strengthening bodyweight exercises would have been more to your liking if you had done your research. The good thing is, if you simply want to exercise to stay fit, without regard to toning a certain part of your body or busting excess pounds, then most any regimen will work just fine.
The failure of fitness programs to deliver also stems from the lack of time devoted to it. To lose weight, you can do cardio exercises for thirty minutes six times a week and you'll get visible results. However, the sad reality is, most people can't even squeeze in this amount of time with everything they have to scheduled in a 24-hour day. Those who have enrolled themselves in a fitness club find that the drive there is enough reason to skip it on certain days, drastically minimizing outcomes. If you really want your chosen regimen to work for you, you've got to give it space in your day. Time, as they say, is of the essence. This especially holds true in exercise.
Finally, the failure of fitness programs can be traced back to poor eating habits. Exercise is only half of the formula for fitness and unfortunately, this is where many weight loss enthusiasts get it wrong. Some believe that if they severely restrict themselves of food, they will lose more fat. The opposite is true: Going on a crash diet simply puts your body on starvation mode. As soon as your so-called diet is over, you've already slowed down your metabolism to cope with the constant hunger it has been subjected to. When you resume normal eating habits, as you are bound to in these cases, your metabolic rate won't be able to keep up and you'll be on your way to storing more fat than you had when you first began. When you are training, you have to fuel your body with the right amounts of protein, carbohydrate, fats (good ones), vitamins and minerals that you can get from fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meat.
