Here are some proven ways to get traffic for your site with little or no money at all.

1. Submit your website to as many search engines as possible. You can start with some popular ones like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Alexa etc.

2. Have dynamic contents on your website. Make visiting your website an enjoyable experience for your visitors. This does not only attract traffic to your website, it also encourages your visitors to stay on your website for a longer time. The longer they stay, the better chance for you to convert their visits into sales.

3. Make sure all the links to your site are in proper working order. Make sure none of the links is broken. Test the links by clicking on them to make sure the links direct you to the intended destination. Most importantly, you don't want to annoy your prospects with links that do not work. I personally came across some links which are broken or unfriendly. And although I really loved the product, I "have" to walk away due to the non-working links.

4. Submit your website to as many link directories and search engines as possible. That will improve your site ranking on search engines. While this may not get you instant traffic immediately, it helps to maintain a steady stream of targeted visitors.

5. Sign off every email with a link to your website along with a brief mention of the benefits of your website. This serves as a good (and free) marketing tool for your website.

6. Create a list for emailing purpose. Use tools like autoresponder to maintain the data of visitors that are looking for what you have to offer. That will help you to build a database of targeted prospects who may buy from you eventually and repeatedly.

7. Make sure you do not spam. That does not only get you into every spammers database, it will not get you the right type of traffic either. At the end, you will realize that all the effort and time you put into "spamming" are as good as gone without any meaningful result.
