Well, logically, the chances for one to get web traffic should be better if he has more followers on Twitter. And that is suppose to help one to make more money online. However, if you are not doing it the right way, the number of followers that you have will not translate into more sales for you.

Think about this. You can get more followers simply by "following" other Twitter users automatically. And, people will normally follow you back just because you are following them! So, nobody is really paying attention to your Tweets. They probably won't read your Tweet, let alone visiting the website link that you tweet. How to get web traffic if that is what happens?

But that doesn't mean Twitter is not a valuable web traffic marketing tool. There are strategies which you can use to get web traffic by using Twitter.

First, you can have a Twitter logo at your blog or email. This serves as a notification to all your blog visitors and email recipients that you are on Twitter. They could end up becoming your followers and is a good source of traffic for your website.

Second, you should update your Twitter account regularly. Provide valuable information or content on your Twitter account. If you have a blog, you can integrate your blog post with your Twitter account. For those who use WordPress for your blog, you can use a WordPress plugin called Twitpress which will twit any new blog that you post automatically. That is one thing you must remember if you want to get web traffic using Twitter.

You can also tweet interesting quotes to your followers to build a relationship with them. If you are able to grab the followers' attention with the quote, and sign off with your website link, the followers may click on your link and that could be how you get web traffic.

In addition, on and off, tweet about something casual, about what you are doing. But please don't do this too often as that may put off your followers since they are following you because of your niche, not because they are interested to know your personal life.

One important point to note though before i end. Never try to follow lots of people on Twitter just because you wanted to get web traffic. If you follow a lot of people but hardly anyone is following you back, people may think that you are a "robot" or you have nothing good to tweet about. So there's no point of following you.

The point is, if you are using Twitter to get web traffic, always remember, quality is more important than quantity. No point of having lots of followers but no or just little sales from them.
