Are you among those women who aim to achieve darker, fuller, and longer eyelash? It’s a growing fad, but wouldn’t you want to know more about your eyelashes first? Growing at the edge of an eyelid, an eyelash shields the eye from dirt and debris and performs certain other functions. In humans, the eyelashes of the embryo develop between the 22nd and 26th week of pregnancy. If pulled out, eyelashes generally take seven to eight weeks to grown back. Their color may also vary from that of your hair, although they have a tendency to be dark for someone with dark hair, and light on someone who owns light hair.
In many cultures, a longer eyelash appearance is considered feminine and attractive. Hadza women trim their eyelashes to achieve this, while other resort to using an eyelash conditioner or eyelash enhancer. As far back as the Bronze Age, kohl has been used for lash enhancement, much like how ancient royal Egyptians used it to protect their eyes from the aggression of dust, bugs, and sand.
Additionally, the modern world has a lot to offer when it comes to eyelash growth and the products that support it. Mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, and other eye cosmetics enhance overall eye appearance. False eyelashes are popular since the 1960s, while eyelash extensions and tints have become popular even in small salons and beauty centers. Eyelash transplants are also done these days, and the process make lashes grow like head on hair and make regular trimming necessary because of the continuous eyelash growth.
If the history of eyelash growth products is to be discussed, Latisse was introduced in 2009 as the first FDA-approved eyelash growth drug. Latisse has bimatoprost, the active component of a glaucoma medication, as its active ingredient. Bimatoprost has been linked to a number of effects, although further studies have to be done to test its safety and effectiveness.
Eyelash growth serums also contain vitamins, seed extracts, and other natural ingredients to lengthen eyelashes and achieve maximum results. Unfortunately, some of them are formulated with prostaglandins, which are prescription-based and are thus intended under medical supervision only. So whatever product you choose, keep in mind not only efficacy, but also your overall safety. A longer eyelash is a wonderful idea, but you would have to ensure that your system gets no adverse effects as well.
