What Is Toner For?

Toner is considered to be the most important part of skin care. It completes the cleansing process and initiates the hydrating-moisturizing process. It is the central focus of the skin care system.
Toner is the least understood element of the system. After cleansing the skin, the toner offers additional deep cleansing of the pores. It serves to hydrate, revitalize, soothe and balance the pH of the skin. It literally relaxes and tones the pores preparing them to more effectively receive the benefits of the moisturizer crème. Garden of Eve’s Wise Woman Toner and Clearly Lovely Toner go one step further in providing balancing and revitalizing therapy specific for your skin type.
Toner can be used throughout the day for a refreshing treat for your skin. Garden of Eve toners are made of pure organic and wild crafted hydrosols – also known as floral water. When models are on assignment they spray their face many times throughout the day with floral water to keep their skin looking young, beautiful and non-oily looking. Toner is also an effective fixative for make-up.
Therapeutically toners address: Large pores, excessive dryness, excessive oiliness, persistent break outs, blackheads, ‘pre-mature’ aging, rough skin texture, devitalized skin.
Beware of toners that contain alcohol or acetone. They will dry your skin. If you have oily skin this may over stimulate your skin to produce more undesirable oil.
How to use toner for different skin types:
Oily Skin, Acne, or If you wear Makeup:
Mist face and lightly soak an organic cotton pad with toner. Clean your skin gently one section at a time. Start with your forehead and continue changing cotton pads as you go. Check the cotton pad and discard when it shows discoloration. Mist on face once more to receive the moisturizing benefits of the toner. Now you have clean, hydrated skin.
Normal, Sensitive Skin, Rosacea:
If you do not wear, makeup, you do not need to ‘rub’ your skin with the cotton pad, as that may further irritate your skin. Simply mist toner on your skin and pat dry with pad.
Combination Skin and Dry Skin:
You may want to use the cotton pad primarily for problem areas that are oily or have a tendency toward break outs. Dry areas will benefit most from simply misting and applying moisturizer crème while skin is still moist with toner. This technique is especially beneficial in dry winter climates.
